Alberto Del Rio Congratulates CM Punk On Winning AEW World Title
CM Punk bringing home the AEW World Championship at Sunday's AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view has inspired a response from one of his old WWE rivals, Alberto Del Rio (Alberto El Patron).
Scarcely minutes after Punk crushed Hangman Page at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Del Rio conveyed a celebratory tweet alongside a couple of applauding emoticons.
Punk crushed Del Rio at the 2011 Survivor Series to start his 434-day rule as WWE Champion. As it turns out, Punk's last World Title session likewise came against Del Rio, at a house show in July 2013. Punk left WWE in January 2014.
Last September, Del Rio referenced how the ace wrestling business stands to profit from Punk joining AEW.
"It's marvelous! I realize the fans are excited that CM Punk is back," Del Rio told Sportskeeda. "I think about CM Punk a companion, and I realize he thinks of me as a companion. We needed to leave the business or the organization where we used to work for whatever reasons. In any case, I'm blissful he's back doing the thing he cherishes the most on the grounds that he's one of those grapplers who began in this business for the love and energy, for the business. Not such a huge amount for being rich or for being renowned, he began in this business since he was enamored with (wrestling) starting from whenever he first went to a wrestling show."
For the individuals who missed it, CM Punk tended to fans after Sunday's triumph. You can click here for Punk's post-match remarks.
